Houses and Pupil Voice

We have a formal House System in the school which promotes team building and character amongst our pupils and is a vehicle for pupil voice throughout our school.

The houses were named after local castles in our area, by our pupils in a whole school ballot and vote.

Pupils are placed into a house when they arrive at school and families are kept together in the same house for the duration of their time at Lamberhurst St Mary’s. Pupils are proud of their houses and have role models in our Year 6 House and Sports Captains.

House points are awarded for good work, good attitudes to learning and good behaviour and these are announced every week in our ‘Celebration Assembly’. Each house also meets together several times each term to worship as cross age communities and to contribute to decisions and evaluations for our school.

Every pupil is on our Pupil Voice Council and meets as ‘Class councils’, ‘House Councils’ and ‘Whole School Council’.  Representatives from each ‘Class Council’ meet with Senior Leaders including governors in ‘Board meetings’ in which their ideas and feedback are used to help with school improvement.
